Heartsaver Instructor Class FAQs

  • The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Instructor Course is taught in a blended-learning format. Instructor candidates must complete the Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course followed by an in-class session.

    Course Content:
    • Heartsaver® Instructor Materials
    • Heartsaver® Blended Learning
    • Equipment readiness and decontamination
    • How to organize and lead a compliant AHA class
    • How to use AHA materials to maximize student retention
    • Training Center specifics
    • How to manage the AHA website
    • How to administer written exams and skills testing
    • Instructor Renewal process

    As a Heartsaver® Instructor, candidates can teach the following courses:
    • Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED
    • Heartsaver® CPR AED
    • Heartsaver® First Aid
    • Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

  • • Be 18 years of age or older
    • Have a current AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED card (only AHA certification cards are accepted)
    • Be proficient in your First Aid CPR AED skills

  • Candidates who successfully complete the steps listed below will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® Instructor certification card, valid for two years.

    Step 1: Have a current American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED certification
    Step 2: Complete the Heartsaver® Instructor Essentials Online course (sold separately)
    Step 3: Obtain the Instruc
